After reading some of the other reviews, I was not sure if I wanted to buy this fan or not but decided to give it a try. Let's face it... they don't make things like they used to. This fan is made out of plastic except for the center pole which is metal. With that being said, it is easy to put together which means it will be easy to take apart for cleaning and storage. It is fairly quiet on all 3 speeds and moves a decent amount of air. I recently returned a Lasko 18 inch fan because it was too noisy even on the low speed and purchased this one instead. So far I have had no issues with this fan so plan on keeping it. With the 20% off coupon I purchased it for a decent price. I am using this fan in my bedroom and overall I am pleased with this fan.
The parts are almost all very light plastic. The 3 fin (choppy) blade weighs just a few ounces. Considering the amount of plastic that was used, it holds together pretty good, just don't try to move it. Of the very few metal parts, the tubes depend on a plastic nut. Set the height and it always sinks down to the bottom. (about 24" high) maybe it's a better table fan! The inner motor and shaft are metal, but the housing is plastic. If you pick it up without holding the base and lower shaft, it feels like it's about to fall apart. It runs smooth, but with only 3 blades, it is quite choppy. Overall, I would say it's quite disappointing. It feels and works like it's about $3.00 worth of pieces, with poor (snug fitting) design. Quite a mistake to buy. I wanted the remote control and that's why I bought it. No demo fan was display! I'm going to return it. Save your money on this one!

it works good it blow cool air.
I bought these for my kids' rooms. They really circulate air and keep the temps pretty cool. A little noisy, but it creates a nice white noise when the kids are trying to sleep.
We purchased 2of these fans. They are quiet, lots of air circulation, quality fan. IHighly recommend.
Works nicely
Great pedestal fan oh, was the last one in the store. The lady discounted it 20% and then let me use my 20% coupon also. Great price glad to have one with the remote.
Hey, my HVAC stopped working and this fan saved me and my daughter. We could at least sleep for the night, until the repair man came. I haven't had to use it again, but I took it apart and packed it up for the next emergency. A fan is a fan. I am a little old school and like metal better, but this fan works, and did well for me, so if you need one, I would definitely recommend. The remote is great as well!

What an invention. Just push a button and it blows air at you. What will they think of next?
