As the product pictures demonstrate, this allows you to attach a baby gate to a staircase post when you do not have a simple wall to wall horizontal structure to install your baby gate. This is of course most common with the bottom of the staircase, definitely one of the more critical and essential areas. This fit well for us and we have been satisfied with the product since installation.

This product it okay but the most costly one is better. It is easier to install and lighter on your banister.
