Natural Home™ 1-Gallon Ceramic Compost Bin in Charcoal

This compost bin feels smaller than 1 gallon. It lasts our family 2-3 days before needing to be emptied. I appreciate the sleek appearance on my countertop. I remove the lid for the walk to my compost pile and it isn't as heavy as I imagined. I haven't had any issues with fruit flies getting inside. I'm being careful not to touch the filter with food, which is tricky. This means that the compost bin can't be overfilled and squashed down. This is probably why my family is running out of space quickly.

Great product. Good price. Nice weight ceramic bin. Any bigger and the kitchen waste doesn’t make it to the outside bin often enough. Like the color because it makes the bin a bit less obvious on the counter.

It is not too big, but big enough to hold scraps before carrying it outside to compost pile. I like the ceramic finish because I can clean it better than plastic. It also has a charcoal filter in the top, I haven't noticed any smells or foul odors coming from it yet.

I've collected it lots of different ways and this is great. The container is large enough to last a couple to a few days. Of course this depends on what I'm cooking or eating but it has enough capacity to make it worthwhile to carry it outside to our compost bin. It is sturdy and I love the fact that it is ceramic. I can easily clean it off and not leave residue or stinky stuff. I like that it is sturdy so I can cram stuff into it like melon rinds or lots of apple cores and not have it tip over. There is a nice handle to carry it outside or you can just pick it up. It is a nice color and looks just fine sitting next to my sink.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use this every day. It is sturdy, well built, and looks nice on our counter. My only wish for it is that the lid was a little more snug. If the lid isn't on just right, we get fruit flies escaping into the kitchen.

I had been worried about a smell, but between the lid and the charcoal filter I have not noticed any scent. I use a biodegradable liner in this, so clean-up is usually just a quick wipe. I agonized over choices for a compost bin and I am happy enough with this one.

Felt it was too heavy and breakable for grandchildren to carry to the chickens. Looked great on the counter but had to return.
