We purchased this around Black Friday and were able to get a great price on it. The LiDAR works perfectly and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the design on this robot since it covers just about every area on our first floor. As an aside, I have the Roomb I 7+ upstairs and it can’t hold a candle to this in terms of smarts and cleaning efficiency. The rumba takes almost twice as long to clean the same size area and doesn’t do nearly as good a job. I highly recommend the Neato vacuum and will actually be returning the Roomba to buy another needle.
I bought this based off of reviews I read. All I can say is it’s a piece of crap! The thing worked once. It never connects to wifi or the app. So I manually got it to work twice, after that it wouldn’t work at all. Called customer service for it and they had me to the same stuff that’s in the troubleshooting guide I found online. Other than that that’s all they had. It’s going back to the store. I had also purchased a smaller one for my upstairs loft (a Eufy) and that one connects to wifi and it’s app effortlessly. It also does an amazing job of cleaning. I will just get another one of those. Ughhhhh

Took an hour to get it to finally connect to wifi / the app, which was the only way to set up a schedule. The process is annoying enough because of the vacuum's evidently very poor wifi hardware, but the way they programmed the app made it even more annoying, because it forgets everything you selected when it fails to connect and makes you go through the entire process of telling it which vacuum you have and tapping through numerous screens and menus to manually tell it to try again, each time it fails, instead of remembering your selections and retrying automatically or at least giving you a single 'retry' button. They also programmed the app to require location permissions before it would try to connect at all, and when I removed the permission after connecting, it worked for maybe 3 days and then disconnected and repeatedly failed to reconnect even after I gave it location permission again. (There is no legitimate reason why they would need to know where I am located in order for the device to find and connect to nearby wifi. They claim it's for support, but that's nonsense, and if it were helpful to know what country or state I'm in *when I ask for help* then let a human ask *when I ask for help*, not programmatically demand blanket, constant access to my precise geolocation!) And even though the app had the serial number and had connected to the vacuum before and knew *exactly* what vacuum I was trying to connect, it *still* made me go through the entire process of selecting the category, the model, etc, etc, etc, for every attempt. So I gave up on scheduling the vacuum and just used the button to turn it on manually when I wanted it to run, but after a week or two even that stopped working. I eventually got it reconnected to the app and it's been running for a week or two with the illegitimate location permission on. Anyone's guess how long until it disconnects itself again. I shouldn't even need to connect to an app to be allowed to run the thing - my Eufy has a remote control that lets me schedule & control it, no wifi or app involved. I should have the same option for this pricier vacuum. I love my living room rug, but if I'd known I'd be dealing with this garbage because of its black areas, I would've bought a different color. Stay away from Neato unless you absolutely need it to handle black flooring that other brands mistake for a cliff.

Connectivity can be improved by tweaking certain network settings/features to match the robot’s requirements.

I got this old version and I love it so I bought a D9 to do upstairs cleaning. Needless to say there is no better one than the D4 strong dependable and would climb anything to clean.

Suction is not what it should be and not nearly as strong as the D3. Computer mapping is good, but I would prefer it clean the floor

After only 3 uses the bot stopped working. Went through the troubleshooting guide myself and then called customer support and it still could not be fixed.

It’s very new and I’ve already had problems. I had to contact tech support over the debris compartment and filter sensor. I’ve used a rumba at another house where I routinely stay and I find it superior to this Neato.

Our last Neato D4 had decided to lose its mind and not be able to complete a clean. We've owned some form of Neato for over 10 years now and know that they have a relatively short live-span of 18-24 months. After looking at various other brands and the newer models of Neato, we decided to stick with the D4 b/c it is by far the best and longest lasting we've owned. After a glitch with the first one that wouldn't connect to our wifi, we exchanged it for another and had it set up within a few minutes. With two labs shedding all over our house, we have hair dustballs everywhere without the robot running daily! Patience is the key to a robot vacuum.
