Bought this a year ago and have loved it. It is even better than the previous one. Works great and gets the job done. Changed my network recently and the router did not connect. Contacted NEATO and their technician helped immensely, turns out you must have channel 11. Had internet company make this change and viola. Love our PUPPY!
We had our neato Botvac D5 for almost 6 months, when it stopped working. After an entire month of emails, chats and calls with the manufacturer and no authorization to return for repair, we replaced with a roomba.
It worked great while I had it, but died just over a year from when I got it. Since it's just out of warranty, Neato wouldn't support it. I wouldn't recommend Neato Botvacs from both a product quality perspective, as well as poor service on their poor hardware.
Only problem is that the phone app has to be reinstalled every time you use D5. Called Neato and all they said was “sorry” the phone app gives good info on operational status but too much pain to install every week!
I want to provide a fair review of this product so I'll start by saying this is a great vacuum when it works, and the customer service department is decent if you're willing to wait days on end for a response and accept their unwillingness to stand behind their product when things go wrong. To make a horribly long story short I had to get this unit replaced 4 times in 7 months, each time it took about a month between troubleshooting, getting approval on an exchange and actually receiving the replacement. The 3rd time I had to return a model I told Neato I'd rather get a refund or a different model as I'm now convinced this one must be defective. After a month of back and forth they agreed to replace the model with the next one up which would be a fair gesture, however they refused to extend the warranty so essentially if I had the same issues with the replacement it would be my responsibility to pay to fix it within 3 months of receiving it. With some products that may be an acceptable solution, but not a $500 vacuum. So I told them if they were not willing to work with me on the warranty I would like a refund, which they responded would take 6-8 weeks. So the good news is in the end I got my money back, but what I won't get back is the months of headaches and waiting patiently expecting that a company which sells such expensive products would do the right thing only to be sorely disappointed. So unfortunately, as hard as I tried to be happy with this product I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and will instead make sure everyone I come across is well informed about the risk they take when working with a company which has little to no intent of standing behind their product which lets me know for a fact once you pass the 1 year mark, you'll be coming out of pocket to fix their shoddy work.
I purchased this as a gift for my son and his wife. They love it! They have 3 cats and this works great for them.
Great idea, sadly very buggy software, the "connected" part took half a dozen or so tries to connect, and then quit 3 or 4 days later, and I was never able to reconnect it again. Had that been the only issue, I could have dealt with that as it kept cleaning everyday. FYI, You will need to adjust your house, or it will get stuck every day, anything it can run over will be an issue, so all your cords for all your tv's, laptops, phone chargers, alarm clocks, etc. Also rugs with frayed edges, low bed skirts, flip flop shoes, furniture with low feet, or any furniture it can "almost" get under like a bed. Plan to empty it everyday if you have a dog, and clean the brush once per week. I bought this for Christmas for my wife, by early June it completely died. I emailed Mineko under ticket number 515770, back and forth for 2 weeks, it was always check this and that, etc. Never could get a simple, send it in and and we'll fix it or replace it. It's under warranty, and I'm not the repair guy, Fyi, I have worked in Engineering for over 35 years, so I can fix most things. Finally my wife said take it back to Best Buy, they replaced it right away, and had the new one shipped to my house, but it's a d5 series instead of a D5 connected, which would be fine except they changed the filter design to one that is much harder to clean, and this one gets stuck on a lot more stuff than the old one. And the battery is not enough to clean my 1700 sq ft house, the first one it was. I liked the wider brush over the iRobot version, not sure if the all round design would help it from getting stuck.
Enjoying the Neato D5, fairly quiet, takes about two-three hours to complete the cycle and lets me know when it's done! It does get stuck under my sofa and asks me to free it, it then picks up and continues. It just loves to go back under my sofa, so I have to put up barriers to keep it from sneaking under there.....other than that, it's just the best! Love it.
