Ok, the reviews that say they are having problems with scratches must scrub with diamonds or something. For me, I have had these dishes for several years, and have not had any damaged in any way, except from extreme abuse. They have survived moving 3 times using what little care under paid movers use. Some have even bounced off the floor a few times with no damage evident. In those 5 years, I have only had 1 plate chip, and that was from dropping it just right (or wrong) on a ceramic tile floor. These dishes are so durable, it was a surprise that it chipped. We use these day in and day out, with no special care (and moderate abuse) and would not buy any other brand.
I have already written a review on this china, and in my previous review I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the finish was showing some deterioration from everyday use. At this point, after just a few years of daily service not only does the white portion look worn, the black portion of the plates has become streaked and faded from being placed in the dishwasher on a regular basis. Oddly, none of the bowls, accent plates, and cups show this sort of deterioration, so I'm at a loss to explain why things are so different with the plates. The bowls are in use almost as much as the plates, so that doesn't provide an answer as to why. I am so disappointed with this pattern that I am seriously in search of replacement china for everyday use. And believe you me, I will not again be buying from Noritake. If you're looking for everyday china, this pattern is not a good value. I am withdrawing my previous recommendation.

I have several Noritake plates, bowls, coffee cups, etc. I have never had a problem with scratches. They are top quality items.

I bought 3 sets with complementary colors. They aren’t the cheapest set, but they are good quality (not lopsided, not uneven, and no streaks or obvious blemishes) and BBB has good prices compares to other retailers.
I got the turquoise color, and it is beautiful! They are heavy so if you prefer a lighter plate, this might not be for you. Love the shape of the bowls. Very happy with this set!
While I love my cool wave graphite dinnerware, I ended up returning these flower lunch plates. The gray background color is too dark and unpleasant. I wish they were the cream background instead, like the appetizer plates.

I love the look of these dishes but the graphite color fades and the dishes chip when put in the dishwasher.

These are wonderful and pretty as well. They hold up fantastically to everyday use and I can mix and match with other dinnerware. I highly recommend these to anyone.
I got these for my wedding off my registry and I am in love with them, but not even a month into using them (and they haven’t been used every day), I just found a huge scratch on one of the plates. Going to try and get it out with cream of tartar or baking soda but this is incredibly annoying considering we’ve had these less than a month and Noritake is supposed to be a high quality brand.
