I would never buy I hate it waste of money
It looks nice and I like the word butter on the front. It is a bit heavy and on the bulkier side for a butter bell. The lid does not sit symmetrically on the body, it needs to have a lip on it or be wider, as it moves around in the cup portion. Also as others have mentioned, the glaze is noticeably missing on the edge of the bell portion that sits in the water. Not sure how that will affect function in the long term, but feels rough and looks unfinished.

The design element for this butter keeper is cute. Sadly it comes with no directions, so if you buy it prepare to do some research on how much water to put in the bottom. Also, we were disappointed that the glaze was not consistent and that an area where the butter would be stored was not properly glazed, exposing the ceramic/porcelain surface.
I purchased this product because it was a good price compared to others I have seen. It looks good on the countertop. The butterdish did not come boxed and without any instructions on how to use it. I had to google how to use it and found out 1/4 cup water needed to be added and replaced every couple of days to keep butter fresh. That information would have been helpful. Only used it for a few days. Time will tell how good it is. Still not air tight as others are when water is added as instructed.

This crock works great... except the rim of the cup that holds the butter gets black stuff built up. I wash and attempt to scrub off the residue between refilling the butter. I think if the rim was glazed like the rest of the piece, there would not be the black colored build up.
On the website, this is advertised as ceramic. The dish has a label that states that it is in fact porcelain. Porcelain is often made with bone ash in China, the country in which this was made. After an extended web search to learn more about Chinese porcelain, I learned that the weight of the object as it is heavier indicates that it is unlikely to have bone ash content. The bright white of the porcelain is not opalescent and is likely enhanced by coloring. I did not return it because it is highly unlikely that it has bone ash involved. It is annoying to need to go through the additional step of needing to research such things. If it had been advertised as porcelain instead of ceramic online, I would not have purchased it.
I had been looking for a new butter keeper. I was very happy when I saw it at Bed,Bath and Beyond. It allows you to keep butter out so it stay soft all the time.
