This appears to be a tea kettle of very good quality and possibly the best tea kettle that I have owned (and I have owned several). It's weight is substantial, it's finish is very nice ( and I was afraid I would not like the brushed stainless), the handle and lever on spout are both cool to the touch. I will address a couple of points that I have read in several reviews. First I can sort of see why some people may think that the inside of the kettle has a coating; it is brushed stainless so it does not look shiny but I can assure you that there is no coating at all. Second people mention a gurgle when pouring and a seal or plastic ring to remove...I think oxo must have listened and removed this ring because mine had no such ring and no gurgle, As a matter of fact it pours very smoothly!! This is a very well made kettle with no seems and the bottom is one piece. I was replacing a much loved cuisinart kettle and was upset they had discontinued it. I thought that I would not find a kettle I liked as much but this OXO kettle could be it. I can't speak of rust since I have not had the kettle long enough but I will be very surprised if rust occurs. Believe me I am very fussy when it comes to tea kettles and for me this one is a winner!
We like that the spout doesn't drip, the water actually pours into the cup. It is larger than we need, but we couldn't find anything smaller that worked as well. It is sturdy and easy to clean and fill. However, there are all kinds of instructions about what NOT to do and they're a nuisance, so I consider it to be too fussy. I am accustomed to letting the teakettle sit with water in it, ready to be heated at a moment's notice. It cannot have any water left in it, and the lid has to be removed as well--or it will rust. I had a kettle I could fill to near the top, this one cannot be filled more than half-way. Wish I could have replaced my old corning ware teakettle with another, but this will have to do.

Sure it heats water and whistles too, but it’s a bear to clean and look sharp on my stove. Difficult to clean, can’t leave it out like my last tea kettle. Ughhhh
Tea kettle perfect; yet I had to return due to kettle being very heavy empty. Obviously filling with a couple of cups of water, would have been uncomfortable and too difficult to handle safely
I love my stainless steel pot because I know there are no heavy metals leaching into my tea. This pot is aesthetically pleasing, and works perfect.
Perfect! Pours great and doesn't splatter. Lid is super easy to lift, boils fast, attractive, and whistle is great. Doesn't get any better than this kettle.
Pours without steam scalding your hand. Great counterbalance when pouring. Love!
The OXO tea kettle I had for years finally broke. Ordered this one and just love it.
I have used this for half a year now. It is what you would expect from a tea kettle. It looks good in the kitchen. I don't have rusting problem some people complain about. It is well constructed. The only flaw with it is the whistle is very weak. You cannot hear it if you walk away from the kitchen.
The kettle is nice but it’s supposed to be a whistling kettle. It’s so soft I can hardly hear it even if I’m standing right next to it. I bought it because it was supposed to have a loud whistle. Dissatisfied with this purchase,
