This works well generally, but one has to be careful to make sure that EVERY pit is ejected when the plunger is pressed. Sometimes, the metal part will push past the pit for larger cherries, just punching a hole. Also, sometimes, the pit remains attached to the cherry for smaller ones. Once I realized these slight deficiencies, I could punch roughly one cherry per second. This pitter is well made and fairly study and doesn't suffer from the disadvantages of some of the multiple-cherry pitters, where one has to stop and clean the pits or go back and double check the ones already "pitted" to make sure that the pits are indeed removed. Each time I pitted the cherry, I would direct the pit to a container so that I could see and hear the pit hitting the container. The shield greatly reduces juice spatter during processing but does not completely eliminate it, so I would recommend wearing an apron while pitting.
Great design, horribly executed. Cheap steel breaks before you've used the pitter more than 20 times. We're not running a restaurant or anything; just casual home use, a couple bags of cherries per year. Paid ten bucks for this pitter at Bed Bath & Beyond, but shouldn't have paid more than three. Production cost could not have been more than a dollar per unit.

Works great!
Found this on Bon Appetite’s must have list, and as avid olive eaters and cherry pie fans, this is a staple in my kitchen. It’s very sturdy and washes up easily.

I LOVE using this handy tool! It gets the cherry pit out easily and your hands don’t get all stained from trying to dig the pit out yourself! One of my favorite kitchen gadgets!

This is so great for pitting cherry. It truly does what it supposed to do. My kids fight over using this every time we pit cherries in the summer. Bought this last summer and still going strong. It’s also a beautiful red color.
I tackled making a home made cherry pie from scratch. So a good; easy to use and clean up; cherry pitter was a must. This device worked flawlessly and was easy to use as well as clean up.
Not happy with this cherry pitter. Pits kept getting stuck because the exit hole was not large enough. Had to extract way too many from hole by hand and was quite a mess.
Only works half the time, the other half I have to dig out the pit.
Love this cherry pitter! The design gets rid of the messy splatter when pitting cherries. No fuss tool, cherry fits well on the slot for the fruit and lines it up just right for the pit to get extracted out.
