Coming from the restaurant industry, I always had a stainless steel egg slicer. When you bought one, you had it forever. I have found that this is not necessarily true of consumer-grade slicers. This one, though, seems to be better than most in its price range. Unless you want to spend $25 - $30 for a slicer you will use a couple times a year, this model is rugged enough to withstand most of your home kitchen abuse.
A slicer that I'd had for years and years had recently bit the dust, so I bought this slicer to bring my order up to a certain dollar amount for free shipping. I don't care for this product: it's bulky and awkward to use, and the wires are already becoming loose. It's working right now, but I'm already starting to look for another because I don't expect this to last very long.

Bought the OXO Good Grips Egg Slicer to replace an 20+ year old LeifHeit mushroom/egg slicer that finally bit the dust. Every wire on the new OXO slicer snapped while slicing a few olives for a pizza! Even though I like the OXO brand (love their coffee maker), this is not a sturdy kitchen gadget and I wouldn't recommend.
Sturdy wires that don't break when you use it on Mushrooms. It's easy to use and to clean.
Didn't open wide enough to fit a standard large egg. Had to squeeze egg inside. Cutting strands didn't line up with slots.

This is one of those items that you don't know you need until you have it. We love hard boiled eggs. This slicer makes avocado toast with egg a breeze.
Used it 2x. Wires broke. Don't buy it even though OXO is a good brand.
I have never used an egg slicer before so this was my first time. I am very impressed.
This egg slicer is what I was looking for. My old one (different brand) broke and this seems much sturdier.
