Based on conflicting reviews, I debated buying this. I needed to replace an oversized broom and dust pan for use in my relatively small kitchen & bathroom. I’m glad I took the plunge. The upright dust pan is flush with the floor & works well. I’ve had no problem at all retracting & extending the broom. The oversized broom-cleaning teeth work perfectly. I cook a lot & am constantly sweeping up crumbs & pet hair because I like things clean. This does the job.

I am tall so I wanted a long broom handle but it became stuck in the short position that I use to put away in my closet and now it will not extend. Very disappointed. I wish the company would stand by its product and do something about it. It is an expensive broom. I agree with the dustpan issue letting dust under it.

I love OXO products and bought this broom/dustpan set thinking it would be just as great as their other products. I have thrown away the packaging and receipt and now I'm stuck with a product that does not work. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the bottom of the dust pan has an upward curve in it, so the dirt you sweep does not go into the pan, it goes under the pan. The broom is ok, but not great. Overall, I would advise that you look very closely at your dustpan for a curve before purchasing--or at least save the packaging/receipt in case you need to return it.

Well, I love oxo. I have an old oxo handheld dustpan that has survived 10yrs. The red rubber seal is finally getting a little too bent up, so I ordered this set. Not cheap, but it’s oxo. Unfortunately, the entire red seal in this new dustpan does not even touch the floor - it is a warped arc. So all the debris just goes right under instead of in the pan. Sadly, I will be returning to the store. The broom is also nothing to write home about - incredibly narrow, about 2/3 the size of a normal broom. I would have been sweeping forever.

There is a curve in the dustpan that allows trash to be swept under. The curve is made worse when the extended handle is pushed down.

Keeping the broom with the dust pan makes life so much simpler. It is a smaller broom but it works well for our family.
