OXO Good Grips® Wooden Turner

This is a heavy duty wood turner. I also have the spoon from the same OXO line. Some things to consider: They take up more room in the drawer, as they are high quality wood, a bit bulkier, due to the thickness and they have a rougher surface than bamboo turners. It's great that the wood is not coated or factory treated - they seem to be raw wood. They do come with a rougher surface, but this allows you the flexibility to treat with whatever oil you choose. I have used mineral oil or butcher block conditioner. Be sure to select an oil or conditioner that is food safe, of course. The first couple months I wasn't thrilled with the roughness, which made it more difficult to clean, but once I treated it, I began to like this turner. Be aware, they will absorb a lot of oil/treatment the first couple times. The first time, I let them absorb overnight. Then reapplied and wiped off the excess the next day. Generously rub it on and let it absorb fully a couple times. They will start to repel liquids and not absorb food colors and flavors as much. Treating them will help them last a lifetime, preventing the wood from splitting and splintering. I recommend them.
