So convenient especially for shrimp. I use reusable ice cubes otherwise when real ice melts everything ends up watery. Not totally fly proof due to the salad tong holes in the lid, see BB&B pics. Very sturdy though & can be washed in the top rack of dishwasher. Measures 9"x11" & holds 6.5 Qts. Pleased I was able to purchase on sale!
I bought this for a party. I didn't use the bottom ventilation piece cause it held less salad. The bowl itself doesn't hold much. The material is very sturdy. The two serving utensils that came with the bowl is kinda useless cause they're too short. They keep falling off or falling in. If the lid is put on, flies can still get inside through the holds where the serving utensils hangs. This defeats the purpose of having a lid. I kept the serving utensils off the bowl, use foil to cover the top and the lid sat on top to keep flies out.
I was satisfied with the item . They were out in the store but was able to order it online and ship it to me with no hassle.
I don't think it kept anything cool. Its very hard to fill to a reasonable level and still put the lid on.
Very easy to use, clean and display salids or shrimp for guests. Good value for the money.
I told them I wanted a bowl to put ice in the bottle to keep things like potato salad cold. Can you image water from the bottom mixing in with potato salad? I resent having to take it back.

I have several Prodyne on Ice servware. This is my favorite, large enough to hold enough fruit or salad for a large gathering. I bought two of the Prodyne on ice dishes last year with the ice container on top. I wish I had returned them. They did not work well at all, but this is really a good buy. My only complaint is the holes on the side of the top allow room for bugs to get in. If it weren't for that I would give it a five!
