This new addition to the stellar lineup of Shark products will be quite impressive. The new DuoClean® PowerFins will be a game changer. The longer hose has been long awaited & will increase reach & convenience. We have owned 2 shark uprights & have given 1 to our daughter who loves it. We only buy Shark after having owned nearly every brand of vacuum.
First of all, I don’t understand all the 5-star reviews from the people who got the product for free. Their reviews read like regurgitated advertisement talking points, filled with nonsensical word vomit (see what I did there?). I am comparing this vacuum to another Shark vacuum (NV750 I believe) that I have had for 4 years, and has been my favorite vacuum by far. Initial impression while unboxing: - The self cleaning pet “power brush” attachment is a joke. It’s a cheap plastic brush that only spins because the suction turns the turbine, which turns the belt, which turns the brush roll. But there’s nothing “power” about it. The mini motorized brush that came with the NV750 was by far a superior attachment tool, even now. (Bonus is that the mini motorized brush attachment fits on the wand and handle of this new Vertex) The brush roll with the power fins - The picture on the box shows the power fins vs regular bristles and how superior the fins are. Yet to my surprise, when I unpacked the motorized nozzle, I found a row of blue bristles between each section of power fin. Yet the picture on the box conveniently edits out the bristles on the brush roll and shows only the fins. I really thought this would not have any bristles at all. After using it..well...it vacuums. It does what it is supposed to do. Just not enough to justify the price. Some points below: - The one thing I really like about this vacuum is the large canister size. But other than that, I can’t really find much of a difference or anything that particularly stands out. - You already know my feelings about the self cleaning pet power brush attachment - The crevice tool has little rubbery nubs on it instead of bristles. I found these to be… useless. I can no longer get between the slats in my vent registers / cold-air returns in my house, in the way I can with the soft bristle crevice tool - There’s a weird high-pitched whine that comes from the vacuum when being pulled back while operating. I have a feeling it’s due to pressure differences compared to pushing and that’s causing the whine, but now that I’ve noticed it, it’s kinda obnoxious. - The weight of the unit is not a problem at all. It feels about similar in weight with my NV750, which I like. Lightweight vacuums just don’t have the same power as corded uprights, so if cordless is your thing, well, this will seem heavy. - The suction seems to be pretty legit, and the motor sounds like a jet engine. This thing is not quiet at all, but I don’t really think it’s meant to be. Just don’t vacuum while people/babies are sleeping in the same room. - I went over the same area I vacuumed using the Vertex, with my NV750. I was still picking up a good amount of hair/dirt from the carpet. Not saying that my NV750 picks up dirt better but I wouldn’t expect the Vertex to leave behind as much as it did. - The front brush roll is neat but I like pushing things aside with the vacuum head sometimes. And I can’t do that with this because it will try to eat it. - I do like the color schemes on this. So far I haven’t really seen any reason for this vacuum to be any better than my current one. And considering the price tag of this product, that’s a pretty big disappointment. Taking into consideration the cheaply made pet brush attachment, the high-pitched whine, the amount of material picked up while vacuuming being unimpressive and the noise level…. I would NOT recommend this vacuum at this price. I am very disappointed in the lack of quality on something that Shark is asking this kind of money for.. And you only get THREE cheap attachments! You would be better off finding the NV750 vacuum, with the True Pet attachments and saving yourself some money. Sure, the NV750 gets hair wrapped around the brushroll and you may have to cut it out. But since you’re supposed to perform maintenance on your vacuums anyway, spending the 2 minutes it might take to cut hair off a roll is worth the money you’d save by not buying the Vertex. Maybe Shark should spend more time focusing on quality instead of gimmicks (silicone fins with BRISTLES between each row but you edit them out on the pictures you advertise with, really?) and release a product that they can be proud of. I will be returning this product immediately. I am just glad I did not waste any more time on this overpriced lightweight.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your review on the Shark® Vertex™ Powered Lift-Away®. We are sorry to hear that you are planning on returning the Shark® Vertex™ Powered Lift-Away® due to your disappointment of the performance of the Vertex compared to your favorite Shark vacuum. The Shark® Vertex™ Powered Lift-Away® is Shark’s most powerful vacuum. Due to the powerful suction the Shark Vertex has can cause the unit to be a bit louder than other vacuums. If you are noticing the noise is different on certain floor types (Example: nylon or indoor/outdoor rugs) you may be hearing the power fins engage with the floor. Switching to Hardfloor mode may improve the noise. The crevice tool that comes with the Vertex is our new Pet Crevice Tool, we have added the rubber nubs to the design of the crevice tool help pick up hair and debris from those hard to reach places that may be missed otherwise. We greatly appreciate all the feedback you have provided.

I received this vacuum as a replacement for an older version of this vacuum. My 7 year warranty covered my unit and since they no longer made the vacuum, I got this upgraded version instead. I was a little upset at first because I loved my old vacuum and didn’t think another could compare. I was so wrong. I didn’t think it was possible for Shark to out do themselves, but they did. This vacuum is so beautiful. I love the rose gold. It’s super lightweight. The suction is so strong. I tested it out on a small section of carpet and I couldn’t believe the amount of dust, dirt, and hair it picked up. We have two roombas that run daily so I was super impressed. If you’re looking for a new vacuum or wanting to upgrade from the older model, this is it!!

My fiancé got this vacuum for me a couple years ago. I always brag on social media, but never actually wrote a review haha. As a private cleaner I used this vacuum in my home, private cleans, and vacant cleans. Sometime Airbnb’s here and there. The shark brand is amazing, but the Vertex is my favorite! It cleans more than competitive vacuums. I cleaned for cleaning companies and I love it more than their “commercial grade”. I live with 3 adults 3 kids 2 dogs (1 husky) and 1 cat! It has always gotten the job done!

Buyer beware. We purchased a Shark Vertex less than 60 days ago the power head stopped working, It was a moving wear and tear part and was not covered under their False Claim of a 5 Year Warranty. I guess my take on this is everything moves so nothing is covered under their 5 Year warranty.

This Shark Vertex, I am happy with this vacuum It does a great job on wood and tile floors. Plus, the large area rugs. For sure it has the power I was looking for. A bit heavy but easy to maneuver. Overall, it does the job for my first upright vacuum.

Not worth the price! Suction is not how it's described. Also keeps stopping on my rugs. Have to turn it off and back on too much trouble. The materials that's used is cheap. Will Not recommend. Going back to Dyson!

I currently own the shark rotator pro and based on the higher price I thought this would be better. It does seem more powerful but not sure if that’s due to new filters etc however I am sad it’s missing the light on the handle. So when i vaccine under my bed or using the handle for windows or upholstery the light was a godsend but this version doesn’t have it. Disappointed but it still has light on the sweeper part which is probably what it said and I assumed it would be on both handle and sweeper like the old version I have. I still love it as compared to regular upright vacuums. I just don’t like they took a great function away from the new version they are selling it as the best vacuum on the site, misleading!

I loved this vacuum the instant I bought it and I still love it. As someone with chronic pain and muscle weakness, I was hoping for a user friendly vacuum. My old shark kicked the bucket after 12 good years. I loved that vacuum, but this one was a major upgrade! I love the swivel which makes turning and getting into tight spots so much easier. Even though it’s one of shark’s heavier vacuums, it doesn’t feel like it. It moves forward easily, pulling itself along. The backward motion does take a little more effort but it’s manageable. The powered lift away is a game changer. It’s wonderful to be able to lift off the canister and hose and walk around wherever I need. Both are lightweight and easy to move around. And you have the whole length of the cord, not just the hose length! No worries about the vacuum falling over when you’re trying to reach someplace. The canister snaps back into place easily after you’re done with it. The vacuum seems powerful and good at getting down into carpet. And the HEPA filter is great for my dust mite allergies. I will recommend this vacuum to everyone I know.

Shark warranty is not quite a full warranty. Replaced an older Shark vacuum with this one. Initially I was very impressed; however, after only 3 months, the roller area (viewed through see-thru clear plastic) began collecting carpet/rug fibers/dirt and creating little balls of fibers. Since this vacuum allows no entry into that roller area to clean it (previous models did), it began interfering with the roller. I called Shark since the unit was under "full warranty." To my surprise, the warranty does not cover the roller part! For a hefty fee, they sent me a new lower vacuum part, which would replace the entire roller. So, fast forward 5 more months and the fiber balls are once again collecting inside the roller area. The vacuum is not even a year old. Not wanting to pay for another replacement part, I will look for another brand of vacuum. Not only does this latest Shark have a bad design flaw, but they do not warranty the main part of the vacuum. Look for a different brand.
