I have had this trash can for four years. I do live alone, so I don't create too much trash, which is why this is a great size. After four years, one side of the pedal mechanism broke, and, while it is covered under warranty, I may be upgrading to a new simplehuman trash can soon, so I have not addressed that yet. While the trash can is great and a good value, there is one IMPORTANT flaw about it that you all should know about. The bottom stainless steel bar that stabilizes the trash can on the floor WILL SCRATCH YOUR HARDWOOD, LAMINATE, VCT, ETC. FLOORS! This happens when you move the trash even a little. I have put a half of a paper towel underneath that bar (it's just thin enough so that it does not cause it to be off balance), but it is a minor annoyance. All in all, four stars, but be sure that you put something underneath the stabilizer bar so that your precious floors don't get all scratched up!
We were on #2 and now that one has broken also. It's so disappointing since we love this trash can. It's the same problem as last time where the foot pedal has connectors that are made out of plastic so within a year they break. For the price of this trash can this really shouldn't be an issue.

Nice feature having the ability to lock the lid.
We already have this in brown and now got a gray one. So much better than stainless by far. Neat, clean, sleek and sturdy.
A very good trash can for a great price. Has a pet lock and a wall bumper which is cool.
We bought for the dog-proof locking feature, but also appreciate the slow-close lid, the nice footpedal, and the little gadget on the back that keeps this from bumping into the wall. It's also a nice size.
I love it! I needed a bigger trash can and this definitely sufficed!
When I received it I had to attach the lid which surprisingly was way more difficult than it should have been I have a very large puppy the trash works well I went on Amazon bought another one for $30 less & the lid was attached
Excellent trash can for the kitchen. The Simple Human trash bags are amazing and worth the money.
Nice Garbage can. Sturdy and attractive.
