I bought 2 of these soap dispensers last year when I re-modeled 2 bathrooms. They eliminate the always messy soap dish, as well as the bar of partially-used soap to be shared among family and friends. I've bought several of them as gifts, which been well received. After having had them long enough to feel that I've tested them, I ordered a third for my home, to use in the kitchen. I didn't realize that there had been "upgrades". The new model is different in several ways, and for me, none of the changes is a definite improvement. Volume adjustments, which previously consisted of a “+” button and a “-” button on the top of the dispenser, no longer exist, per se. Instead. Symbology on the front of the new unit (and in the "manual", such as it is) seem to indicate that where you put your hand determines the volume of soap that will be dispensed. So far, this seems functionally erratic. I’ve been unable to get a consistent volume of soap from the new dispenser. The top of the unit is now just a solid piece of metal, When it's removed, a funnel-shaped insert is revealed, which is used when pouring soap into the dispenser. This necessitates pouring VERY slowly, else the smallish, round hole is blocked, and air has no way to escape the chamber as soap is going in, so it can quickly back up to the point of overflowing. Further, the clear back of the unit on the old model allowed monitoring of the fill level. With the new model, the only way you can see the level of soap is by looking through the fill hole. These changes combine to make filling the dispenser tedious. Finally, the new model has a proprietary, magnetic connector, instead of the previous standard mini-USB connector. This makes the unit fully immersible, which has its benefits. However, it’s yet another unique connector on the end of a USB cable. Most of us have more different cables than we need. Until an industry standard can be agreed upon for a magnetic USB connector, I’d forego this change. Overall, I'd recommend this product, but with some dissatisfaction, compared to the previous model. Ergonomically, this one is less satisfactory.
I have recently purchased (5) of this model - to replace & upgrade our S H dispensers. 2 did not work. (Same issue as other reviewer - dispensers made loud noise but no soap is dispensed.) I exchanged 2 and needed to return one of those exchanges (same issue) as B B & B were out of stock at store. Mixed feelings on this dispenser - love it but not hopeful that the ones I do have working will last. Note: We always have (7) Simple Human Dispensers in our household and these were replacements in this model. While I love the brand, the no touch features and the look - I am consistently replacing dispensers after 1-2-3 years. So, I am very thankful for B B & B 20% OFF Coupons!

This is my stand by House warming gift. Everybody loves them and thank me for such a high quality gift. I wanted something most households do not have nor think about. I am always thanked for my ingenuity in the selection of gift. It is a gift few think about owning, yet are ever so great full to own, once they do. Really like the soap sensor pump. Keeps things neat and clean. Was disappointed to hear the warranty was not longer then 2 years and had to buy a new one.

I've been buying these for years. I continue to purchase as it's the only way I can get my autistic son to wash his hands. So i def recommend for all kids and people perhaps with hand/ mobility issues(?) I've seen some complaints about things if you go on the simplehuman site for troubleshooting can rectify. If the soap comes out when your not near it, that usually indicates that the sensor needs to be wiped with rubbing alcohol ( from soap caked on) also need to know- if soap isnt coming out, you need to remove the bottom and flip over and poke a pin into the hole ( soap gets clogged). They do eventually die/ something happens though i'd say 2-3 yrs. the other model that you pour soap directly into- on my older unit, the straw became dislodged and simplehuman said it was too old for them to do anything/ BBB would not take back. apparently it's past the 2 yr warranty. I don't know didn't keep the receipt. Simple human has no # and were impossible to get in touch with! I didnt want to just throw it out it was working fine except the straw. I tried talking to a manager at BBB but nothing. I gave up on that unit. Besides my son, I do like when i'm cooking it's great for when u have greasy hands. I used to use one for dish soap. It works perfectly with other brand soaps ( foaming are best)
Love these. No more soap waste because of accidental activation. Sensor located in a better spot. Replaced all four with Simple Human
