Simply Essential™ 2-Piece Ice Stick Trays Set

I received these and froze them overnight. Today they were solid and I put a few in a cold bottle of water. The ice melted quickly and didn’t keep the water cold. Also, removing the ice from the tray was difficult. I had to run warm water over the back to loosen them. If I was an in store shopper, I’d return them. Very disappointed.

I purchased two of these a few weeks back and had to return them. Could not get the frozen sticks out of the trays without using a knife to dig them out. They wouldn’t pop out and they also wouldn’t come out by twisting the trays. I definitely cannot recommend this product. So unfortunate because I absolutely love everything I’ve ever purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond.

It is difficult to remove the ice. You can not “twist” the tray to release all of the ice. If you are supposed to push each individual rod out by pushing the bottom as one reviewer suggests, that is ridiculous and consuming and they break apart. Poor design. There are better trays that make ice in rods for bottles. I will be time returning these.

Tubular ice fits well in water bottle tops but the difficulty starts when taking the ice out of the tray. Bending the tray does nothing to pop the ice out. You'll have to use your fingers to push the ice out by the silicone bottom of the tray, it may need a hard push. If you fill the tray to the top then the ice will expand and may be just a little to big to fit in the bottle, you'll need to fill the water below 100% to the top. Also, if you fill less than 75% then the ice will break while removing from the tray. Water will not flow from one ice cubicle to the next when refilling unless you do it really slow, going too fast will spill over.

Great concept but poor function. The ice cubes themselves are very hard to get out. You can bend it but that doesn’t loosen them. You can run it under water but doesn’t get them to come out any easier. It is such a struggle and time consuming process as you literally have to work with each individual one to pry out. When they do come out, the majority are broken so you end up with ice shards and they melt quickly.

I went into BB&B to buy the ice stick tray with a cover, but it was out of stock. I decided to give the Simply Essential ones a try since the price was lower and I had a coupon. I had no trouble getting the sticks out whole, but I did make sure not to overfill them. The trays seem sturdy to me and no funny smells. I am happy with my purchase, just wish there was a cover.
