Simply Essential™ 5-Shelf Metal Bookcase in Black

I bought 2 to organize my laundry room and they came out perfect. Excellent quality. I might get another unit.

This is my second book case that I've received and as I want to assemble the bookcase, I noticed that one piece for the shelf is bigger than the rest! I mean this is not my desired case that I've wanted, the pieces are supposed to be even and equally measured, I want my money back!

The bookcase is solid construction and is a nice minimalist look, which visually looks great for our living room that has relatively low ceilings. Assembly was relatively easy. I discovered during the process of assembly that it is better to screw in the wood shelves to their individual shelf frames first, and then bolt the shelves to the outer guiding poles (with the bookshelf laying down flat on a solid surface). This helped make the full bookshelf fully straight and more solid on the floor. (Unfortunately the directions largely had these steps in reverse, which led to a slightly wobbly / less straight build my first time around. Thus my 4-star rating.)

I don't love this shelf. It was unclear when ordering that you have to attach it to the wall to prevent it from falling forward. That speaks loudly to the dimensions being incorrect. Plus, the desired attachment to be used is a cheap plastic strap that will be in full view. YUK!

I use my shelf to store produce that doesn't belong in the fridge. It was fairly easy to assemble this shelf although you must be diligent to assemble the long vertical shelf struts according to their corresponding part identifier. Other than that it was a breeze. And I taped the allen key to the bottom of the shelf incase I have to move or sell it.

There were supposed to be already drilled holes in the top of the shelf and there was none. I don’t want to return it because I’m just going to bring a drill into the office tomorrow but I would most certainly like some sort of refund since the product did not come to me as promised. I can take a picture if need be, but I’m not longer at the office.

I really love this bookcase, it's perfect for my son's room! He has alot of books and games that he puts on it. Before his stuff was so unorganized and scattered so I like that it keeps him organized. I bought some fabric bins for it so that helps. Also this bookshelf was in great condition out of the box, not broken, easy to assemble. I'm happy, thanks Bed, Bath & Beyond :)
