This worked ok for the first year although it was not very user friendly. Two on off switches, one on the bottom, Timer would go off for no reason which irritated my wife in the middle of the night. After several bad bread results I figured out it was reading 14 degrees high. No way to recalibrate. Put in 4 new batteries which did not help. Do not recommend.
I was looking for an accurate thermometer that would be accurate and easily used. This, however, is a nightmare to program. There were no instructions of any value other than how to install the batteries. Very disappointed, will be returning.

I'm unhappy that I wasted my money on this. It worked three times and then completely stopped giving a readout. Even when it worked, it didn't update the temperature! Cooking a steak that only needs 7-9 minutes, it would give a readout after 5 minutes and then the readout would freeze there for the next five minutes, making it impossible to know when the food was done. Absolutely useless.

I am a software engineer and I can deal with complexity, I always had my VCR at the right time and could program it. But this was a very unpleasant experience and I ended up doing an in store return. The display is crowded and confusing. I need to know the temperature but it's adorned with pictures of cows, read outs of all sorts, buttons and gizmos aplenty (thanks, Little Mermaid.) I suppose there is some way to set an upper and lower temperature limit, I wouldn't know, it's soooo confusing. Got a Thermoworks Dot instead and I love it. It has a nice professional probe, the Salter, who knows what terrible made-in-China probe they use. Yuck. It works, true, but why put yourself through this torture every time you want to cook something?
Overall, this thermometer works well. I have used mine several times and have found that the real temperature is higher than it shows on the thermometer by a few degrees which allows for the meat to get somewhat overdone. So I just keep that in mind and remove my meat at a little lower temperature. My last meal was a turkey and it was perfectly done. This Thermometer works.
