Lasted 3 runs
BB&B Customer.2 years agoI purchased this vacuum with high hopes. It was a brand new release and I’ve heard great things about the previous models from Neato. But after running the vacuum on the first try I was experiencing errors of all different kinds. Each time I was making excuses, maybe the vacuum didn’t like this type of floor, or there was too much hair on my wooden floor, etc. After a couple days of usage, I left it alone for a weekend and then on Monday wanted to start another cycle, the vacuum wouldn’t run. It gave me a brand new error about it not finding maps. I troubleshooted the vacuum with the help support for 45 minutes but even customer support couldn’t identify the problem. The vacuum never started again. I gave it a fair shot and really wanted to like it but in the end I returned it.

NEATO is Neato
I have two older I-Robots, and one just bit the dust---battery won't charge--It's one of the first-generation cleaners. I never heard of a 'NEATO' until I saw it on your website. and 50% off. I put it to good use in our master bedroom the same afternoon after receiving it. Having the square front is a great idea; it definitely gets into the corners better. I had to remove the skirt around the bottom of our bed, as the sensors saw it and would not go under the bed. It worked great after that. Oh, wifi is a really great addition...it's 'NEATO.'
Not worth it!!
Item does not perform well at all! It goes around the room in circles and not up and down as described.
Poor Quality Robot
I purchased the Neato D80 robot in 2014 and it lasted for many years. I replaced it with this new D8 robot. I’m very disappointed that I didn’t read the reviews. Only 6 months after buying this machine it was broken. I live alone and do an office job. My house gets dusty but never dirty. I would run the vacuum once per week to pick up dust and lint from hardwood floors and tiles and after 6 months it went kaput. Neato was so good years ago but they are no longer building vacuums with quality. I would not trust them to ever buy one from them again.

I have never purchased a product that I had this many issues with. Not only would it not allow me to set up app because my Android phone is version 13 but I tried to do it with my daughter's iphone and it would still not allow me to set up the vacuum. This product is the biggest piece of crap and I will NEVER recommend to anyone ever. Sending back for full refund.
Great robot vacuum for the price
I picked up my first Neato XV some 10 years ago which has served us well (it still cleans our bedroom 2x / week). We purchased a D8 for our basement (approximately 1600 sq feet) that includes a family room (carpet - short loop pile, 2 bedrooms (carpet - long cut pile) and a bathroom (ceramic tile with two floor mats). First run setup was a breeze. No problems using the app to connect to the D8, connecting the D8 to my wifi and updating the D8 with the latest software/firmware. First run to map the downstairs didn't go so smoothly as the D8 didn't handle the bedrooms (it'd get stuck on the carpet). Second run to map the downstairs I closed the bedroom doors and got a solid map of the family room and bathroom. From there I set some "no go" areas (including the bedrooms). The bedroom carpet is 20 years old and will be getting replaced in the near future with a short loop pile. Scheduling was easy and with the solid map and "no go" areas in place the D8 never gets stuck and reliably does its job. I have it doing a turbo clean on Monday and Friday and an eco clean on Wednesday. If the D8 would be able to vacuum the bedrooms with the current carpet. I'd give it 5 stars. Overall, for the price point and functionality of the D8 I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
Waste of money
This is my third neato I’ve bought in the last 10 years and I am done with them. There is always some sort of error my husband will have to fix finally on this last D8 that we bought one wheel won’t turn and it just spins in a circle and beeps. Save your money!

This thing cleans up everything. Let it run free one night and it even got up under the couch and got itself back out without any trouble. First deep clean filled it up, this thing got places I wasn't even able to reach with a manual vacuum. Impressive!
Gets stuck everywhere
I was excited to try a robot with LiDAR. I have an iRobot roomba i7 and it is far better than this piece of crap. Day one it chewed the corner of my rug. Constantly getting stuck in places where roomba has no issues. Returned this after a few days because LiDAR doesn’t seem to help this robot
Love it!
The NeatoD8 has been such a wonderful addition to our house. WIth two very large dogs, it has made life sooo much easier. I run it every day and it picks up so much fur and dirt, I'm still surprised.
New App Fewer Features
App stinks. returning D8 & buying D7 again.
Do not buy this model
I've been a Neato customer for years, but they totally dropped the ball with this new series. Bought D8 as second robot, have an older Botvac Connected. The older robot has flawless navigation and battery, after years of use. D8 will ignore no go zones (and get stuck), will require recharge mid run, won't clean everywhere. It is a shame. Seeing both cleaning side by side, D8 is completely dumb. I have contacted support, there is no solution for a poorly developed product. My mom wanted a vacuum robot, we gave her a Roomba. If you go online, you will find the same complaint from several users, poor navigation compared to older models. Stay away unless you need a robot to clean a room with no furniture.

I have owned multiple other robot vacuums and have always been disappointed. I have 5 of these from D4 to D8 depending on where I am using them. We use them in multiple homes as well as in my offices. The mapping technology is unsurpassed and the only issues we have ever had was with the WiFi in older models that seems to have been remedied. I have owned these for at least 7 years now. It is amazing how they always find dust and debris even the night after the house cleaners come in and clean. We have a wool rug in our bedroom and the bedroom unit still comes back full of wool after almost 4 years of use. I have yet to replace an original battery and other than an occasional sock or just getting stuck on something that gets the unit wedged it just goes and goes. Don't hesitate and feel confident. The other bonus is the customer service is based in Ireland so the people helping are easy to understand and they are really concerned about making everything work well.
Love it ! Picks up all the pet hair
I LOVE this vacuum!
I’ve had luck with Neato in the past but decided to try an iRobot after that. It was totally frustrating getting stuck and not recharging during a cleaning cycle and I returned it. I bought this Neato D8 and I am SO satisfied! This robot maps your floor plan and you can set “no go” zones without buying any additional accessories! Don’t want it crashing into the dog bowl? Done! It barely bumps things like table legs once mapped. Plus it has a Turbo setting that is amazing. We have 2 cats and a dog and we run this setting 3 times a week plus the eco 2 times a week. It’s scary how much it picks up. It has a nice large dust bin and a wider brush/bin than other models or brands. This is worth its weight in gold to our household.
incomplete product. does not work
I bought this within a few months of being released, and boy did I learn my lesson never to buy a new design within the first year. The app would not support multiple maps for different floors. When the battery died while the vacuum got stuck overnight under a couch, it would not turn on. I reached out to help each time, and it looks like they finally released a firmware update to make that bit better. Since the first five months, it has been a dud sitting in the hallway. I reached out to support, and after going back and forth for months, they wouldn't help; I gave up. So I have a product under warranty that can't be fixed. I regret not buying third-party support. After finding online forums reporting similar issues for other neato products, I learned to stay from these. My electric car runs with zero maintenance costs, and this thing requires cleaning of sensors every time you go to the bathroom. Feel free to ask me for pictures and videos of it just going round and round.
DO NOT PURCHASE
It’s ridiculous the amount of money you spend for a quality product. Mine only ran properly for a couple weeks and now it only comes out and stops a foot from base and never cleans. Straight up garbage, I’ve tried everything to get it to work and nothing. Even deleting app and rebooting robot and starting fresh and it still refuses to work. Huge waste of money.
Do not purchase
This unit has issues with the sensor, issues with the rotating brush and intake design. It's a piece of trash.
not worth the money
This robot has spent more time confused and asking to be returned to its charger than it has cleaning!
Neato Mom
I love all my kids all the same, errors or not. Don't give up on your family just because they have a bad day. Take the time to research why they are having a hard time. Give them frequent pep talks and spa days. They will always be there for you. For that, I am forever grateful. <3 P.S. Unfortunately they won't outlive your family dog, so be sure to buy a protection plan.
Overpriced unintelligent robo vacuum
There is nothing smart about this robot. It's louder than other robots in the market very bulky and heavy. It keeps getting stuck and doesn't go over miedium thick carpet. There are much better robo vacuums in the market at this price range. Dont waste your money or time
